About this piece
Allo is harvested from wild giant nettle between 1,500 and 3,000 metres, retted in a stream, beaten, and hand-spun on a drop spindle. It is one of the strongest natural fibres in the region and was used for fishing nets and porters' sacks long before it was used for shawls.
The natural colour is a pale grey-fawn with darker flecks. Slubs and thickness variation across the width are the hand-spinning, not a fault.

Care & keeping
Hand wash cold with a mild wool detergent, or dry clean. Do not wring — press the water out flat and dry away from direct sun. Store folded with cedar rather than mothballs.
