About this piece
Stone carving in the valley is measured in weeks per hand-span. There is no forgiving step: a chisel that goes too deep cannot be undone, so the carver works down in layers and leaves the face until last.
The eyes and the mouth are what to judge. A good carver keeps the eyelid curve continuous and the expression settled; a rushed one leaves the face slightly asymmetric in a way you feel before you see.

Care & keeping
Dust with a dry brush. If it lives outside it will grow lichen, which most people like; scrub with water and a stiff brush if you do not.
