About this piece
Rudraksha are the seeds of Elaeocarpus ganitrus. The number of natural ridges — mukhi — determines the type; five-faced is the common and traditional choice for a counting mala.
Knotting between beads is the slow way to string a mala and the right one: the beads cannot rub against each other, and a broken cord loses one bead rather than all of them.
The seeds darken with skin oils over years. That is the intended patina.

Keep out of direct sunlight and away from damp. Lokta is naturally insect-resistant and needs no treatment. Handle with clean, dry hands.
