About this piece
The Tibetan knot is worked around a metal rod laid across the warp; when the row is finished the weaver runs a knife along the rod and the whole line of pile springs free at an identical height. It is quicker than a Persian knot and gives a denser, springier pile.
Highland wool has a high lanolin content, which is why Tibetan rugs resist dirt and keep their spring for decades. This one is washed in the river and sun-dried in the traditional way, so the colours have already settled and will not run.
Knot count is 100 per square inch — the standard grade for a floor rug. Higher counts exist and are mostly for fine wall pieces.

Care & keeping
Rotate it twice a year so wear and light exposure stay even. Vacuum without a beater bar. Blot spills immediately, never rub. Professional wash every few years is plenty.
