About this piece
Tiger rugs are the most graphic thing in Tibetan weaving and the least religious-looking, which is why they ended up in Western design magazines in the 1970s. Their original use was as a tantric practitioner's seat, the tiger standing for fearlessness.
This one is a stripe-abstract rather than a full pelt design, at 60 knots per square inch. Vegetable-dyed madder and walnut over undyed cream.

Rotate it twice a year. Vacuum without a beater bar. Blot spills, do not rub.
